The mode of action of a fan-type manifold is that better outflow of exhaust gases is achieved by optimizing tube lengths and cross sections. By generating a vacuum, the exhaust gases can escape from the combustion chamber with hardly any resistance when the outlet valve is opened. The exhaust gases no longer need to be pushed out by the piston, and fewer residual gases remain. This means that more fresh air can flow into the combustion chamber. This combination produces greater power and torque.

In turbocharged vehicles, the original catalytic converters are usually located directly at the turbocharger outlet. This causes a congestion of the exhaust gases, which not only causes unnecessarily high exhaust back pressure, but also a heat accumulation. Individual components of the turbocharger wear unnecessarily due to these constantly high temperatures. The installation of a pre-catalyst replacement pipe or downpipe ww. with tuning catalytic converter not only increases power and torque but also provides thermal relief for the turbocharger. In many cases, the down pipes can also be supplied with corresponding catalytic converters suitable for EURO standards and therefore also have the corresponding EC type approval or parts certificate.

An original catalytic converter usually has 600 cpsi (cells per square inch = 25.4mm x 25.4mm) and therefore has a low transmission rate. As the number of cells per square inch is reduced to 200 or 300 cells, the flow rate and thus the flow velocity of the exhaust gases increases. However, the lower number of cells also means that the individual cells require a significantly higher load of precious metals such as platinum and rhodium in order to achieve the same exhaust gas purification values. The development of such EURO-standard compatible tuning catalysts requires a lot of experience and a high technical effort. We rely on our partner HJS Emission Technology for this.
